Class tours will include a hands-on project, the use of an Ohio Historical Society First Ohions “case history” trunk that is being rented for the duration of this exhibition, and a tour of the exhibition Ancient Ohio/Ancient Egypt. Titled “Peoples of the Past: Ohio’s Prehistoric Cultures,” the packet was compiled by the Education Services at the Ohio Historical Society. It is available free of charge to teachers. A video loop of Earthworks: Ancient Newark, Ohio will play throughout the run of the exhibition. This digital exploration of the ancient Ohio Valley is presented courtesy of CERHAS (Center for the Electronic Reconstruction of Historical and Archaeological Sites) at the University of Cincinnati. Please note that The College of Wooster’s mummy coffin only will be on display in the Burton D. Morgan Gallery along with two falcon mummies, a group of Egyptian amulets, and a box of ushabtis. A video loop of the C.T. scan of the Wooster mummy will play in the Burton D. Morgan and can be turned off for visiting classes upon request.
